Structural Shift
Week 11
GCC growth is shifting from headcount expansion toward AI-plus-domain expertise
Global Capability Centres / Enterprise Technology
What's happening
A PwC India-FICCI assessment highlighted a potentially significant skills gap in India's GCC ecosystem through 2030, particularly for professionals able to combine AI and advanced technology capabilities with deep business-domain knowledge. The signal is important because GCCs are increasingly handling global product development, analytics, finance, engineering, risk and transformation work rather than primarily process execution.
Career implication
Freshers will increasingly need demonstrable AI, data and automation capability alongside functional knowledge rather than relying solely on generic degrees or coding skills. Professionals with 3–5 years of experience should combine technology expertise with a domain such as banking, healthcare, supply chain, engineering or finance. Professionals with 10+ years of experience will need to lead AI-enabled global functions, transformation programmes and specialist centres of excellence rather than depend primarily on people-management experience.

Structural Shift
Week 11
AI adoption is changing the hiring equation across technology and business functions
Technology / IT Services / Enterprise Functions
What's happening
Indian employers and global enterprises operating in India are moving from experimentation with generative AI toward embedding AI and automation into software development, analytics, customer operations and corporate workflows. The employment implication is less about the disappearance of entire professions and more about a redistribution of demand toward employees who can use AI to increase output, automate routine work and redesign processes.
Career implication
Freshers face greater pressure because routine coding, analysis and documentation tasks can increasingly be automated; portfolios and applied AI skills will therefore matter more. Professionals with 3–5 years of experience should learn to integrate AI tools into existing technical or functional expertise. Professionals with 10+ years of experience need capabilities in AI transformation, governance, workflow redesign and productivity management to remain competitive for leadership roles.
